A Guide on What You Need To Get You Started..

Companies like Badger, Dragon Carp, which do complete sets for around £300 - £500, this usually consists of 2 carp rods, rod and pod, bite alarm indicators, two reels, landing net, unhooking mat, bivvy, rucksack, rod bag, sleeping bag and scales.

All you need to do after that is to buy your end tackle and that is the most important part of your outfit, and that is where you can and must spend your cash on items like leads, hooks, hooklink materials, lead core method feeders, braid scissors, lead putty, baiting needles, rig tube, swivel compass, floats an controllers and you will also need a spod rod and reel that you can pick up for around a £100, and the last thing is a box to put it all in.

The end tackle and box can cost you in the region of £200; so don’t skimp, another later addition like the spod rod is the marker rod, again for around £100 for the rod and reel, these two items can stay with you even when you upgrade your gear.

Anyway I think you should buy cheap gear first to see if you like our sport of carp fishing, rather than spend £4000 brand new and selling it second hand for half the price.

I have bought my kit over the years and it consists of: -
Mash Profile Brolley with infill panels.
Fox Bivvy Table, Fox Realtree Box full of End Tackle.
Trakker Ruck Box with Bivvy Table.
JRC Stealth Bedchair.
Nash Nomad Barrow and Smaller Chub Barrow.
Two Chub Adjustable Chairs.
Fox Realtree Digital Scales.
Fox Unhooking Mat with Fox Weigh Sling.
Fox Euro Pod Stainless.
Solar World Wide Pod with Fox MMXR Alarms.
Tracker Armo 2 with Winterskin Bivvy.
JRC S & I Bivvy.
Nash Profile Brolley with Infill Panels.
Greys Spod & Marker Rods.
3 Greys 3 lb TC Platinum Rods.
3 Embelem 2 by Daiwa Big Pits.
3 Shimano Ultegra 2½TC Rods
3 Shimano Bait Runners.
Trakker Big Snooze Sleeping Bag Summer use.
Trakker Peach Skin Sleeping Bag Winter use.
Trakker Thermal Waterproof Bag Cover.
Nash Nomad Food Bag, Bait Bag, Five-Speed Rod Holdall, Plus 2 Nash Carp Carryalls.
Chest Waders & Skeetex Field Boat.
Shimano Realtree Lightweight & Heavyweight Clothing.

Well that little lot will probably cost around 6 or 7 Grand; it is not cheap if you want the best, and like I said previously you can do it a lot cheaper, if you have got the money I say don’t go mad give the sport a go, if you like it then spend what you want.
I won’t ramble on anymore; do what is best for you.
I hope what I have said will help some of you out there. Till next time, keep on catching, just like me Ha Ha!!
