The CARP FISHING GUIDE Saves you Time and Money. Baits Blood Orange. Hello again, back after 6 weeks of work and family commitments, such is life. I've started back with a new bait, DT Blood Orange, this bait has been going in the water on a regular basis by other lads on the lake as there is a few of us on the same bait,
The first session was out of my camper van on the road bank over night as most of my sessions are dusk till dawn and managed a 17 Pounder the DT Blood Orange.
Two days later I was back again and lost a big fish in the night as I was leaving I noticed carp hovering in the bay so I put 1kg of bait into the bay an took some lake water home to wash my baits out in as this has worked previously for me and caught me a mid 30 plus a few twenties, 3 days later I was back for a dusk till dawn session as I was setting up when my mate John Jackson turned up and mentioned about a gravel patch out in front of me, where he has taken a few fish out .so out went the rods onto the spots, I then retired to my camper to sleep as I had to be at work for 7am. It was around 1:30am and the rod on the gravel was off, when I got outside there was a front, rare for the end of April. I picked up the rod and I was into a big angry carp, after a 20 minute hard fight I had a 29lb 4oz linear mirror carp in the net .a few hours later I was in again on the gravel rod this time it was a 14lb common carp, so I had 2 more hours sleep and it was off to work. The next session was on the easy lake with my daughter Amy as I had promised to take her Fishing, well Amy ended up with 3 low doubles caught on surface baits, so Amy was contented. Before we left for home I fired 1kg of DT Blood Orange onto the gravel path in the bay as I was fishing there the next night for a 20-hour stint. When I arrived as luck would have it John Jackson was fishing over my baited area the one he put me onto so I fished the next swim down, by the time it was morning John ended up with 3 carp to 25lb 12oz and I had blanked, not happy. John had to pack up early in the morning, so when he had gone I moved in ha ha! Out went half kg of washed out DTs, one on the gravel under the willow in the margins, I gave it a few hours and my baiting paid off as the willow rod rattled off, I picked the rod up and struck, I was into a big fish .the fish swam straight toward me along the margins in about 2ft of water and took along run to try and get around the island but I managed to turn him round in the end, I managed to get him in the net but the blighter got out and was off running. The fish was a large common carp, so I jumped into the water up to my knees, he was going in the net this time and that is where he ended up and then onto my mat .the scales tipped 32lb 8oz what an end to a hard season as our lake shuts.
