Carp Fishing Bait Recipe

The bait recipe I mainly used when fishing back in the mid 80's was more of a savoury base mix it consisted of:

Ground cat biscuits as the main base

1oz Casein a milk protein that puts hardness to the bait

2oz Sodium caseinate a milk protein that gives your bait buoyancy

1oz Wheat gluten to bind the mix when mixing also makes bait rubbery

1oz Parmesan cheese powder

5ml Richworth blue cheese flavour

1tspn Vitamin and mineral supplement

6 Eggs

½ tspn Monosodium glutamate

1tspn Garlic oil

I would thread garlic oil capsules round the back of my lead, which was a real good attractant.
This bait caught me a lot of 20 plus carp in those days if you had over 20 20's in a season you were doing really well, I caught 15 20's that season I was using this bait, The guy who helped me devise this base mix was the bait guru John Cooper who is well known for his knowledge on bait.
Bait is too readily available these days; the trouble there is so much to choose from.
It makes you lazy, when I made my own bait I knew
I had caught the fish more, than when I just popped up the road for a bag of ready made, I use ready made more these days just for convenience must be lazy in my old age ha ha!
