Carp Fishing Rods

When I started carp fishing back in 1981 the Carp Fishing Rods I was using was two Shakespeare match international 11ft,It did most of its best work from margin to 20yds you could forget long range tactics.

The next year I purchased some Northwesteron 555's these rods were the excellent 11ft 2lb T.C made of fibreglass, I had these rods for the next 4 seasons, then someone sold me 3 Sportex 11ft 2-¼ lb test curve carbon blanks.

I had to then get someone to build the rods for me, My mate John Cooper who I fished with his dad Billy Cooper (God rest his soul) was one of the best rod builders around my rod blanks turned into the best looking rods around, I used these rods for a good 5 seasons until they were stolen from my garage.
The next lot of rods were built by Terry Eustace another top rod builder he was a mate of rod builder Billy Cooper. I would have had Billy build my rods but I had bought them from my mate Melvin Bick and it had his name all over them. They were 3 12ft 2 ¼ T.C. plus I had 3 12ft 1 ¾ T.C but it took me ages to get on with 12ft rods. I had these for a good 4 seasons.
I gave up carping for a while and went crazy on motorbikes but that was just a distraction a good one full of adrenalin it was wicked but that’s another story, so six or seven years later I was still alive (Unbelievable).
So I gave up bikes and went back to my carp roots, so I gave the carp scene another look, There was so much to catch up on, Rods had changed so much rods with the quality of the ones I had were around £30 to £60 amazing. The rods I bought were 3 12ft 2-½ lb test curve Shimano super Ultegra. I have had these rods for the past 6 years and they are part of me.
