Carp Rig

As the years have gone on the carp rigs have got more advanced and so have the carp, But at the water I fish the carp have got more advanced so you have to keep up with them at the moment I am finding it very hard but as my old mate Allan Lewis says you’ve got to be in it to win it.

Anyway I think these fish are getting a way with it, when I say they are getting away with it means the fish is hoovering up the bait cautiously thinking there is danger.
This fish might have seen nearly everything he messes up and sucks in the bait and hook he realizes he is in danger if he doesn’t spook he will just hover trying to blow the bait out.
That’s why you have to keep trying different rigs; you can try these rigs out on easy waters to see if they work, It all helps being confident in your rig that is the main part that catches the fish.

You have to find out the make up of the bottom of the lake you are fishing, there is plenty of end tackle to choose from like Stone Leads, Camo Braid, and Leadcore etc you must try and hide everything from these weary carp.

For this weary carp I like to use a Carp R Us Long Shank Nailer coupled with a Berckley Swivel, which goes over the point of the hook and goes against the eye then a rig stop a steel ring then another rig stop and then a pop up boilie of your choice which is tied to the steel ring and a small blob of rig putty on the swivel.

The idea of using a swivel is that the bait and hook can turn 360 in the carps mouth coupled with the long shank nailer hook will make it really hard for the carp to eject, there will be some more rigs plus photos in the near future.
So keep on carping tight lines.
