The first Carp tip I can think of is make sure your car is filled up with petrol, this is done the day before you go fishing, any smell of petrol on your hands can and will end up on your bait, because carp are very sensitive to smell, when I arrive at the water I put my hands in the marginal silt this gets rid of all the smells of non fishing life.
When you have got all your rods out and baited up I then rub an alcohol disinfectant into my hands this gets rid of germs and viruses like Weils disease, which can be found in the water this disease, can kill you. The disinfectant comes in a handy dispenser and can be bought at most chemists
This disease is transmitted by rats through their urine so keep your hands clean especially before eating and keep them silty when baiting rigs and baiting up and clean them again before food consumption and so on.
